Module templates

Hello,

This is regarding the functionality to create module templates. Currently everybody copies a module and using as a new module. This functionality would mark a module as template - and allow a user to create a new module (without baselines).

Wanted to create the module as template and user should have a option to select the module template for all new modules. Are there any solutions for this?

thanks in advance,

Not sure this answers your question, but you can "copy" a module then "paste-special" it into a different folder, and the option comes up to exactly what you want to copy; presumablly all the Attr Types, Attr Defs, and Views. I think that's called 'cloning'. Give it a try.

muthurani,

well... besides the answers already provided, there is another possible alternative to you posting a module labeled as template module in a general location.

If you are familiar with the navigation into the DXL utility inside of doors. I am providing a picture as an attachment. Under browse there is located a folder which contains serveral example templates for module creation. I have also seen some "home-cooked" template folders added at one of our sister company DOORS instances. ie. you can add more template module choices if you want to do all the work associated with adding them to the DXL library listing, and then train the folks how to create them this way. Could entail more work adding to other parts of the DOORS menu areas inside the client.

Like you, we have just kept it simple by creating a template module, which most of the DOORS Project Admins, and users know of and become familiar with, as a good place to start vs. the more complicated DXL menu additions.

hope this helps...
